Ecbolium ligustrinum Botanical Description
Glabrous shrubs, stem terete. Leaves 16-22 x 3-6 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate at both ends, lateral nerves 7 pairs; petiole 3.5 cm long. Spikes terminal, to 12 cm long; bracts 23 x 12 mm, elliptic, glabrous; bracteoles filiform. Flowers many; sepals 5 mm long, linear, acuminate, hirsute, united at base, corolla bluish-green, bilabiate, tube 27 mm long, narrow, upper lip linear-oblong, shortly bifid; lower lip deeply 3-lobed; tube 25 mm long, narrow, hairy; stamens 2; style slender, stigma 2-lobed, clavate. Capsule 23 x 10 mm, clavate, thinly hairy; seeds one in each chamber, 8 x 8 mm, orbicular, compressed, white, rugulose. Fl. &Fr.: January-May.
