Sida rhombifolia Botanical Description
Erect herbs, about 0.5-1 m tall. Stem, ultimately glabrescent when mature. Leaves alternate, rhomboid, about 2.5-9 x 0.5-4 cm across, base cuneate, margins entire near the base and toward apex crenate-serrate, apex acute to obtuse, petiole hairy with minute stellate hairs, stipules linear subulate, filiform, 1 veined, about 5-6 mm long. Inflorescence usually axillary solitary, or 2-5 in terminal clusters. Flowers bisexual, pedicel pubescent, jointed above middle, accrescent, about 3-4 cm long, epicalyx absent, calyx 5 lobed, campanulate, apex acuminate, corolla showy, yellow, pale yellow. Staminal column shorter than petals, hairy with glandular hairs, anthers basifixed. Ovary 6-12 carpellate, conical, minutely stellate hairy, ovules 1 per locule, style 1 per carpel, stigma capitate. Fruit indehiscent, schizocarp, oblate, enclosed by a persistent calyx, minutely pubescent, mericarps 6-12, reniform, flattened, dorsally reticulate, minutely stellate pubescent.
